Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (45 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (175 g) semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) white chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, then blend in vanilla extract until incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chunks using a spatula.
  7. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Using a scoop or spoon, portion dough onto lined baking sheets. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
