Ingredients:
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 (14 oz.) loaf brioche bread, cut into thick slices
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)
Instructions:
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl until fully combined.
- Arrange the brioche slices in a single layer in the baking dish. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the cover and bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is slightly golden and the custard is set.
- Allow the French toast to cool slightly. Sprinkle an even layer of granulated sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until it forms a glossy, hardened crust.
- Slice and serve warm, garnished with fresh fruit or whipped cream if desired.
