Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate melting wafers or candy melts
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
  • Sprinkles, edible glitter, or crushed nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large bowl.
  8. Add frosting to the crumbled cake gradually until it holds together when rolled (approximately 1/4 cup).
  9. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet. Chill for about 30 minutes.
  10. Melt the chocolate wafers or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. If necessary, stir in vegetable oil.
  11. Insert a cake pop stick into each ball and dip into the melted chocolate. Allow excess to drip off and set the pops upright in the Styrofoam block or stand.
  12. While the coating is still wet, sprinkle on your desired toppings. Allow to set completely before serving.
