Ingredients:
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate melting wafers or candy melts
- 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
- Sprinkles, edible glitter, or crushed nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry, mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large bowl.
- Add frosting to the crumbled cake gradually until it holds together when rolled (approximately 1/4 cup).
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet. Chill for about 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate wafers or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. If necessary, stir in vegetable oil.
- Insert a cake pop stick into each ball and dip into the melted chocolate. Allow excess to drip off and set the pops upright in the Styrofoam block or stand.
- While the coating is still wet, sprinkle on your desired toppings. Allow to set completely before serving.
