Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups (300ml) Warm Water (105-115°F/40-46°C)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g / 1 packet) Active Dry Yeast
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Honey or Maple Syrup
- 2 cups (240g) Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 cup (120g) All-Purpose Flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) Olive Oil plus more for greasing
- 1 teaspoon (6g) Salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together warm water, yeast, and honey. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In the same bowl, add the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Pour the olive oil into the yeast mixture. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough may be slightly sticky, but avoid adding too much flour.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Gently punch down the dough and divide it in half. Shape each half into a ball.
- Cover the dough balls and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating. Lightly flour your work surface.
- Gently stretch or roll out each dough ball into a 12-inch circle.
- Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone. Add your favorite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the pizza cool slightly before slicing and serving.
