Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups (150g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (whole or 2% is best)
- 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Seeds from 1/2 vanilla bean (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar
- 3-4 tablespoons (45-60 ml) milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease donut pan(s) thoroughly.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, egg, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean seeds (if using).
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Transfer batter to a piping bag (or use a spoon) and fill each donut cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk for a thinner glaze, or more powdered sugar for a thicker glaze.
- Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, let the excess drip off, and place back on the wire rack to set.
- Serve immediately and prepare for compliments!
