Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until bubbling and frothy.
  2. Whisk in the flour and continue whisking for 3–5 minutes until the roux reaches a light golden brown color and emits a nutty aroma.
  3. Reduce heat slightly and pour in 1/4 cup of beef broth, whisking vigorously until it forms a thick, smooth paste.
  4. Gradually pour in the remaining beef broth in a steady stream, whisking constantly until no lumps remain and the liquid is integrated.
  5. Stir in the onion powder, black pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Increase heat to medium-low and simmer for 3–5 minutes until the gravy is glossy and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
