Instructions:

  1. Open and thoroughly drain both cans of tuna. Transfer the tuna to the large mixing bowl. Use a fork to flake the tuna until it reaches a medium-fine consistency.
  2. Finely dice the celery stalks and mince the red onion. Chop the fresh dill and parsley.
  3. Add the cottage cheese, Dijon mustard, and fresh lemon juice to the flaked tuna in the bowl.
  4. Add the diced celery, minced red onion, chopped herbs, salt, pepper, and optional relish to the bowl.
  5. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold all the ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Taste a small amount. Adjust salt, pepper, or add a squeeze more lemon juice if needed.
  7. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld together. This chilling time is highly recommended.
  8. Serve the Cottage Cheese Tuna Salad chilled, piled high on lettuce cups, whole-grain bread, or with crudités.
