Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread (baguette or similar), about 12-16 inches long
  • 1 cup (113g) shredded mozzarella cheese (or a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well until evenly combined. Let sit for 5 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bread loaf lengthwise.
  3. Generously spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the garlic butter.
  5. Place the bread on a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Let the garlic bread cool slightly before slicing into individual portions. Serve immediately.
